FAQ

How should we get started?

We usually begin with a free 20-minute consultation so I can learn about your reasons for seeking therapy and answer any questions you may have.  After that, I recommend 1- 2 more full-length consultation sessions to gain a better sense of what it might be like for us to work together and determine whether there is a fit.  You can contact me by submitting a message in the Contact Form on the Contact page of this website, or you can call me directly at 917-740-0452.  You can also email me at anjaligeorgephd@gmail.com.

How long are sessions?

Psychotherapy sessions last 50 minutes.

What is your fee?

I work with a range of fees and reserve a few slots for sliding fee cases.  Sliding fee is negotiated based on what you can afford and what my practice can accommodate at the time.

Do you take insurance?

I do not.  I am considered an “out-of-network” provider on most insurance plans.  If you utilize your out-of-network benefits, I will provide you with a monthly receipt for you to submit to your insurance plan for reimbursement. After payment of a deductible, out-of-network benefits cover a percentage of my fee and you may be able to use pre-tax dollars through a flexible medical spending account to cover out-of-pocket psychotherapy expenses.

How do I know if I have "out-of-network" benefits?

Call your insurance company and ask about your mental/behavioral health coverage. Here are some specific questions that you might want to ask:

  • Do I have out-of-network coverage for mental/behavioral health services?

  • What is my deductible, has it been met, if not, how much do I have remaining?

  • How many sessions per year does my plan cover?

  • What percentage of an out-of-network psychologist’s fee is reimbursed?

  • Is there a maximum covered amount per session?

  • Is a primary care physician referral required before I can be seen in psychotherapy?

  • How do I file a claim?

Do you provide referrals?

If we decide after our initial consultation that you would be better served by another provider or by more comprehensive services, I am happy to refer you to providers or clinics I am familiar with and trust.
